How To find The Best Acne Treatment For You

As a teenager, I remember that having to find acne treatments that worked for me was a real pain. It’s one of those things that we all need help with. Some of us get lucky and have a doctor who has experience. Most of us have had at least one person telling us to wash our faces since we were born. Hardly anybody actually likes to wash their face at the end of the day and it is something that many of us forget to do. Most of us spent our teenage years stressing out over breakouts and acne and, even so, as adults we still grumble about washing our faces, especially in the evening. Here’s the thing: you need to keep your face clean to keep dirt and bacteria from infecting your pores. Do you want to have a breakout as an adult? Here are a few hints to help you keep your skin healthy.

Not all acne products are suitable for everyone. We all have different skin types and so need different solutions to treat our acne. Before you do anything else, you need to find a good cleanser. It should go without saying that your cleanser should not have an oily base, but that is not the only thing you need to look at when you shop for your cleanser. Salicylic acid is one. Salicylic acid is often found in cleansers that are harder on the skin and meant for people who suffer from severe acne. In a “regular” cleanser though, the strength of the salicylic acid is just enough to zap the bacteria and clean out your pores. As you age, however, you should cut way back on cleansers with salicylic acid…in fact, they should only be used for a spot check once in a while. Spend some time talking with your doctor. With their experience, finding the best acne treatment for your condition and skin will be a lot easier. Ask a dermatologist for help. There are some adults out there whose acne is so bad they need to seek professional help to get it under control. For people who have tried all of the over the counter facial cleansers and acne fighters and who still suffer from extensive acne, a professional’s advice is often needed. You might need a prescription strength acne fighter and a dermatologist can give that to you. Sometimes acne is caused by something else besides simple dirt and bacteria and your dermatologist will be able to tell if this is the case. Some acne issues are the result of genetics or other health conditions. A skin care professional will be able to properly diagnose your acne and breakouts and will be able to give you directions on how to cure them.

You might already have the perfect remedy in your kitchen or bathroom. There are a lot of people who insist that toothpaste is great for zits. An overnight spot treatment of toothpaste on a zit might cure it. When you wake up, you will see that the pimple or zit has gotten a lot smaller (do not try this if you have pets who roam free at night because tasting the toothpaste could make them very sick). Egg whites are also supposed to be fantastic cleansers and pimple reducers. Try making a mask with your egg whites if dabbing them directly onto an existing breakout doesn’t clear it up. Keeping your hands to yourself and making sure to keep your face clean are two of the most basic and most reliable ways to cure an acne breakout. Other times you’ll need something more powerful to help you fight acne. Thankfully, no matter how old or young you are, there are plenty of options available to help you fight your acne.
